St.George to help those affected by the Victorian bushfires

St.George Bank is committed to offering relief for those customers affected by the recent bushfires and encourages them to contact the Bank as soon as possible to discuss their individual circumstances.

St.George General Manager Victoria, Peter Lock said that the devastating bushfires have created a very grave situation for many and we want to assure customers that they have our full support.

“Firstly, I’d like to say our thoughts go out to everyone impacted by these tragic events over the last few days. We will do everything possible to assist those affected. Customers impacted should contact us as soon as possible. We will ensure each situation is assessed individually and promptly in order to assist customers through this difficult period,” Peter said.

Assistance available to customers includes:

• Deferral on home loan repayments
• Suspension of credit card repayments and emergency credit limit increases
• Waiving early withdrawal costs for those accessing term deposits
• Restructuring of loans for our business customers
• General insurance assessment and decisions will be fast tracked
• Waiving branch service fees for those looking for branch assistance.

“At times like these the community really comes together to support each other. We are committed to helping those in the region to ensure they can focus on recovering from this devastating natural disaster”, Peter said.

St.George Bank is also collecting donations through its branches on behalf of the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Relief Appeal, a partnership with the Victorian Government. St.George, as part of the Westpac Group, is proud to have together donated $1 million to the Appeal.
