Here are the answers to frequently asked questions about paying your bills online.
BPAY® is a national electronic bill payment service, jointly developed by Australia's leading financial institutions. If your bill displays the BPAY® logo, you can use BPAY® to pay it through St.George Internet or Phone Banking.
There is no set-up required. Once you are registered for Internet Banking, BPAY® is ready to use. Simply check that the BPAY® logo is displayed on your bill, note the Biller Code, Customer Reference Number and amount you need to pay, and then follow the step-by-step instructions provided.
To make things easier, Internet Banking can remember each biller you pay and store your favourite billers. Using Internet Banking, you can pay your bills straightaway or schedule for them to be paid later. You can even set up regular payments daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly for up to 24 months in advance. You’ll get a receipt each time you make a payment..
The Customer Reference Number (CRN) and Payer Name identify you and the bill you’re paying to the biller.
You must enter the CRN to process the payment. Payer Name is not a mandatory field, but any information you choose to enter in will be sent to the biller..
he Biller Code and Customer Reference Number (CRN) are located next to the BPAY logo on your bill.
Over 13,000 bills accept BPAY®, including phone bills, utilities, credit cards and much more. Look for the distinctive BPAY® logo in the payment section of your bill, or visit the BPAY website for a complete list of BPAY® billers
| Each biller sets individual minimum and maximum transaction limits, these may be higher or lower than the limits we impose. We set a maximum daily limit of $100,000 per day, however, to ensure Internet and Phone Banking remains safe and secure, we have increased security measures for funds transferred to selected billers for payments such as credit cards or TAB accounts. Payments to these billers have a reduced limit of $15,000. If you are unsure of a biller’s limits please feel free to contact us on 1300 555 203. |

Yes. You can schedule a payment up to 24 months in advance. You can also set up regular payments daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly for up to 24 months in advance.
Cut off time is 5.30pm (AEST), 7 days a week. If you instruct us to make a BPAY® payment before the time specified, it will in most cases be treated as having been made on the same day. However, if you instruct us to make a BPAY® payment on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, or if another participant in the BPAY® Scheme does not process a BPAY® payment as soon as they receive the details, the payment may take longer to be credited to the biller.
BPAY® payments require additional processing times due to the processes involved. Regardless of whether the payment is made to a St.George account or to another financial institution, we require at least one day to process our side of the transaction.
While we endeavour to process all transactions in a timely manner, St.George cannot control when a participant in the BPAY® Scheme processes their side of the transfer or payment. Therefore please allow up to two business days for your payment or transfer to be processed.
Once a transfer has been confirmed via Internet Banking, we are unable to cancel payment.
If you have made a payment incorrectly, please contact our Internet Banking Helpdesk on 1300 555 203 (+61 2 9845 4160 overseas) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
There are two procedures that can be initiated:
1. Recall – A recall will endeavour to retrieve the funds from the credited account.
2. Trace – A trace will locate the destination of the funds.
A number of billers do not accept payment from credit card accounts. However, this varies and is at the discretion of the biller providing the bill.
To find the payment options offered by a specific biller, visit the BPAY website and type in the biller name. Some billers may charge a surcharge for payments made from a credit card account. Again, this is at the discretion of the biller, and the surcharge is usually added to the next bill.
