1. How do I notify the bank about a death?

   You can either go to your nearest St.George branch with Proof of Death and the Will (if applicable) or you can contact St.George Estate Management. It’s important to know that notification of a death cannot be taken over the phone. You will need to fax, email or post a copy of Proof of Death.

2. What is acceptable Proof of Death?

   Please provide one of the following:
   
   1. Death Certificate
   2. Funeral Account
   3. Medical Certificate
   4. Probate or Letters of Administration
   5. Disposal of Body Certificate
   6. Coroner's Report (Newspaper clippings are not acceptable).

3. Can St.George pay the estate expenses from the deceased’s account?

   Yes, we can authorise payment of valid estate expenses if all of the Executor/s or Next of Kin (where no Will exists) make a request. You must supply St.George with an invoice. These payments can be made at any branch and the Bank Cheque fee is waived for this service.
