Easy steps to protect yourself while travelling

Don’t leave home without it! Travel insurance helps you prepare for the unexpected when travelling. Follow these easy steps to protect you and your family before you leave. If you need more assistance, call us so we can help you with the details.

Step 1: Choose your plan

Choose a plan that will cover your travel destination and suit your needs.

Plan Destination
Super Plus Plan For travel to any international destination. However, this is the only plan if any of your travel itinerary includes USA, Canada or Japan (USA includes Hawaii)
Super Plan Minimum cover for travel to the UK, Europe, South America, Russia, India, Africa or the Middle East
Standard Plan Minimum cover for travel to Asia, including Bali
Economy Plan Is for travel to New Zealand, Norfolk Island or South Pacific Islands, including South Pacific and Australian cruises
Australian Plan For travel within Australia (excluding cruises in Australian, or international waters)

It’s important to understand what you are and aren’t covered for. For the policy details, check the Protect Travel Insurance Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Step 2: Choose singles or doubles cover

  • Singles cover - if you’re the only adult travelling
  • Doubles cover - if you’re travelling with one adult companion

Dependant children are covered under both Singles and Doubles cover at no additional cost

Step 3: Check the information needed for your policy

Check you have:

  • The name, address and date of birth of anyone to be insured under this policy
  • Details of your travel plans
  • Your travel dates

If you or anyone travelling with you are 70 years of age or over, or has a pre-existing medical condition (regardless of age), more information may be required.

Step 4: Apply

Call us on 13 33 30 to apply. We will provide you with an insurance quote based on the plan that you choose. Premiums may be higher depending on the age of the travellers, or if you or anyone to be covered under this policy has a pre-existing medical or dental condition we have approved cover for.

Call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on 1800 112 449 within 30 days of completing or cancelling your journey to make a claim.

Depending on what’s happened, we’ll need you to provide the following documents:

If you’ve lost or had your luggage stolen

  • A copy of the report you lodged with the police or carrier from where the loss or theft was reported
  • Evidence of ownership such as original receipts, photographs (except for jewellery or watches) or operating manuals.

If you’re involved in an accident

  • Medical, dental, police reports or declarations
  • Evidence of ownership such as the damaged goods, original receipts or valuations of items damaged as a result of the accident.

For cancellation or rescheduling expenses

  • Original receipts, tickets, or
  • a letter from the travel agent showing any charges to re-arrange or cancel your journey, or
  • a doctor’s certificate or letter from the carrier.
