 How do I open an Express Saver Account for Business?

Opening an Express Saver Account for Business is easy. The following options are available for your convenience.

 Can I only apply for an Express Saver Account for Business online?

No. You can contact us on 133 800 8am to 6pm (AEST), Monday to Friday, or bboesa@stgeorge.com.au and we will send you an Express Saver Account for Business application form.

 How will I know when my Express Saver Account for Business is opened?

Once we have received your application and opened your account, you will receive a welcome letter. The letter will include the following information:

  • Confirmation that your account is opened and ready to use;
  • Details of your account number;
  • Information on how to operate your account;
  • Contact details for our dedicated Business Banking Consultants.

 What is a nominated account?

A nominated account is a bank account that you choose to link to the Express Saver Account for Business and must be in the same name and capacity as your Express Saver Account for Business. Funds can only be transferred between your Express Saver Account for Business and your nominated account.

 Does my nominated account need to be with St.George Bank Limited?

No, your nominated account can be with any Australian Financial Institution, so long as it is in the same name and capacity as your Express Saver Account for Business. It must also be able to accept electronic debits & credits.

 How do I deposit money into my account?

You may use St.George Internet Banking, Phone Banking or Business Banking Online to transfer funds from your nominated bank account to your Express Saver Account for Business, even if it is held at another Australian Financial Insititution.

Alternatively, you may choose to use the online system provided by any Financial Institution to transfer funds to your Express Saver Account for Business. You will need to know details of your Express Saver Account for Business, which are set out in your welcome letter issued when you open your account.

 How do I withdraw money from my Express Saver Account for Business?

  • You can withdraw funds from your Express Saver Account for Business using St.George Internet Banking, Phone Banking or Business Banking Online. Funds withdrawn from your Express Saver Account for Business can only be transferred to your nominated account.
  • No ATM, EFTPOS, cash, or cheque access
  • If you transfer funds before 5pm (AEST), your funds should be available in your nominated account with another Financial Institution by the next business day ^.

 What fees apply?

  • No bank fees or charges apply to your Express Saver Account for Business or Internet and Phone Banking. Transfers between your Express Saver Account for Business and your nominated account may give rise to fees on your nominated account.
  • There may be associated costs to register for Business Banking Online if you wish to access your account using this solution. Please view the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for more information.
  • Internet and Phone Banking have no set up costs.

 Is the interest rate fixed?

No, the interest rate is a variable rate and is subject to change.

 Do I have to keep a minimum balance?

There are no minimum balance restrictions for the Express Saver Account for Business.

 How long does my money have to be deposited to earn interest?

Every dollar earns full interest from the day it is deposited to your Express Saver Account for Business. Interest is calculated daily, and paid monthly. If your nominated account is not with St.George, deposits to your Express Saver Account for Business may not be recognised on the day that you request the deposit.

 Will I have the ability to make a deposit at a St.George branch?

No, this product is an online account only. All transactions must be performed using Internet and Phone Banking or Business Banking Online.

 Can I arrange for payments to be directly credited to my Express Saver Account for Business?

Yes, all you need to do is provide your Express Saver Account for Business account name, BSB and account number to the remitter of the funds. These account details are provided in your welcome letter or can be obtained by calling 133 800

 Can I set up a savings plan by direct debit?

Yes, a savings plan is available by direct debit if your nominted account is held with St.George and allows direct debit access. If you are unsure, please contact our Business Banking Conultants on 133 800 8am to 6pm (AEST), Monday to Friday.

If your nominated account is not held at St.George, then you may wish to contact the Financial Institution your account is held with to set up a direct credit schedule into your Express Saver Account for Business. You will need to know details of your Express Saver Account for Business, which will be set out in your welcome letter issued when you open your account.

 How do I change my savings plan?

You will need to complete an Auto Savings Plan form and send* the completed form to:

 Can I have ATM, cheque or branch access?

No. The benefit of the Express Saver Account for Business is that you manage your account completely online by Internet Banking, Business Banking Online, or by using Phone Banking. This enables us to keep the account completely fee free.

 How often will I receive a statement?

You will receive a paper statement every six months. You will also be able to access immediate transaction history information online using St.George Internet Banking or Business Banking Online. Phone Banking users can also phone 13 33 22 to listen to their transaction history information.

 How do I bank online?

If you do not have Internet and Phone Banking in the same name as the Express Saver Account for Business, we will automatically register you for St.George Internet and Phone Banking in the name of the business. Upon registering the business for Internet and Phone Banking, we will give you an Internet and Phone Banking Access Number, Security Number and Password.You will then be able to transfer funds between your nominated account and your Express Saver Account for Business.

If you have applied for Business Banking Online, your online facility will allow you to complete this function.

 How do I bank using the phone?

Alternatively simply call 1300 555 203 8am to 9pm (AEST) 7 days a week and a Business Banking Consultant will assist you with setting up and using the St.George Phone Banking service.

Absolutely – St.Geroge offers the maximum level of security to our customers using online banking. Our security is based on strong data encryption, which keeps your banking details private.

Data encryption is a secure way of protecting transmitted information from being viewed or deciphered. When we encrypt your data, it is converted into a code which can only be accessed by us.

 What security does Business Banking Online offer?

Our Business Banking Online solution offers your business the ability to apply strong internal controls by allowing your business to apply individual user limits, and offering the option of ‘two to sign’ on all online transactions to and from your nominated account.

Other security features of Business Banking Online include:

  • Payment Authentication Device – electronic signatures
  • Setting access control for users including View Only, Create and Authorise
  • Setting a daily transaction limit
  • Setting individual transaction payment limits
  • Optional two to sign on transfers and payments
  • Audit log to track user access

 At what times can I access my account?

Any time you want, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.^ If you require further assistance our dedicated Business Banking Consultants can be contacted on 133 800 8am to 6pm (AEST), Moday to Friday.

For Internet or Phone Banking assistance call on 1300 555 203 8am to 9pm (AEST), 7 days a week.

For Business Banking Online assistance call 1300 554 004 8am to 8pm (AEST), Monday to Saturday .

 Can I change my nominated account?

Yes, the nominated account will need to be in the same name and capacity as the Express Saver Account for Business. You will need to complete a Change your Nominated Account form.

Steps to change your Nominated Account or Auto Savings Plan:

  • Download and print the appropriate form
  • Complete and sign the form
  • Send the completed form to:

Change your Nominated Account form

To change your nominated account, complete and return this Change your Nominated Account form and send to the above address.

Also, if your new nominated account is held with another Financial Institution, you will need to provide an account statement that:

  1. is not older than 6 months;
  2. has the same account name as the Express Saver Account for Business; and
  3. has the same address as the Express Saver Account for Business.

For non-Australian residents, all required documents must be certified copies.


Change of Auto Savings Plan form

This feature is only available if your nominated account is held with St.George. To update an existing or request a new Auto Savings Plan, you will need to complete this Auto Savings Plan form and send to the above address.

Authority to Operate

To add Authorised User(s) to your Express Saver Account for Business, you need to complete Sections 1, 2, 10, 11 and 12 of the Express Saver Account for Business – Application and Authority to Operate form and send to the above address.

Request to close your Express Saver Account for Business

You, or an Authorised User will need to reduce your Express Saver Account for Business balance to nil ($0) and contact St.George to close your Express Saver Account for Business. Please contact one of our Business Banking Consultants on 133 800 8am to 6pm (AEST), Monday to Friday, or fax a signed request to (02) 9845 4308.
