George Frazis, St.George Banking Group CEO, participates in 2013 Vinnies Sleepout
Monday, 17 June 2013
In a bid to help raise money and awareness in support of homeless Australians, St.George Banking Group CEO George Frazis is joining more than 1,000 CEOs across Australia at the 2013 Vinnies Sleepout on 20 June.
CEOs, including George, will forgo the comfort of a warm bed in exchange for a sleeping bag and a sheet of cardboard. There are more than 105,000 Australians who are homeless each night around Australia, eight per cent more than in 2006. 17 per cent of those are children under the age of 12.
"Each night of the year there are more than 100,000 Australians who find themselves homeless, half of these are women, and a quarter are under 18," Mr Frazis said.
"I believe that in this day and age, there is no excuse for so many Australians to have nowhere to call home and we simply must do more to combat this serious issue. The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a wonderful way for business leaders to raise money and awareness to help bring about an end to homelessness."
Collectively, the 2012 NSW Group of CEOs raised over $5.3 million.
"Homelessness is an issue that's important to St.George Banking Group," Mr Frazis said. "For many years, as a group and also as individuals our people have supported organisations such as The Salvation Army and Mission Australia in addressing homelessness – and we will absolutely continue to do so."
