Through our Matching Gifts program, we match every dollar our employees donate to a registered Australian-based charity. Since the program started in 1998 we've donated $46 million to 1,820 charities, each of which was chosen by our people. Matching Gifts is Westpac Group's largest community support program and was the first of its kind among Australian banks.
Westpac Group employees in Australia have a unique opportunity to participate in a life-changing secondment to Indigenous Australian communities. Employees can apply to take up a paid placement for six weeks, or in some cases up to 12 weeks, in either an urban, regional or remote Indigenous community. Organised in partnership with Jawun Indigenous Corporate Partnerships, these secondments are a practical way for Westpac Group employees to experience enormous personal and professional growth while making contributions to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Since 2001, Westpac Group has supported over 730 employees to take part in the Jawun secondment program, and we have committed to an additional 45 secondments in 2018.
The impact of natural disasters can be devastating for communities and businesses. To help those affected to recover and rebuild their lives, we established a Natural Disaster Recover Fund. This fund is an extension of our long and proud history of helping customers affected by natural disasters by providing personalised assistance, disaster relief packages as well as donations, community grants and mentoring support.

When you work with us you'll be able to use your Community Leave to spend time away from the office volunteering. We'll also initiate a range of general and skilled volunteering opportunities for you in our local communities.
We aim to make a difference within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities by ensuring that Indigenous recruitment is front-of-mind. In fact, in 2014 through our partnership with CareerTrackers we committed to recruiting 400 Indigenous interns over the next 10 years. CareerTrackers is a national non-profit organisation that creates internship opportunities within the private sector for talented Indigenous university students.
Our Employee Action Groups (EAGs) support and encourage Westpac Group's diverse and inclusive workplace for our people to prosper and grow. They foster member development and promote awareness of group interests at corporate, community and individual levels.
