I received a closure notice for my Debit card saying it’s inactive. What does this mean and what should I do next?

If you haven’t used your existing Debit card to complete one of the eligible transactions listed below in the past 12 months, we will classify your card as inactive.

To receive a new St.George Visa Debit card, you’ll need to make at least one eligible transaction using your existing Debit card by the date communicated in your letter. This date is usually 60 days from when we sent the letter.

Completing an eligible transaction will confirm you wish to keep your card active and will allow us to issue a replacement card. For eligible transactions, please refer to “What is classed as an eligible transaction?” in this FAQ. For other eligibility criteria that applies to receiving a replacement card, please refer to the Visa Debit card Terms and Conditions (PDF 1MB) for details.

For eligible transactions, please refer to “What is classed as an eligible transaction?” in this FAQ. What happens after I make an eligible transaction with my Debit card?

After completing an eligible transaction by the date mentioned in your letter, we’ll send you information about the transition to a new St.George Visa Debit card, including instructions for setting a PIN and activating your new card. We aim to transition all eligible customers by mid to late 2026.

Can I continue using my old Debit card until it is closed?

Yes, you can use your existing card until the closure date specified in your letter.
