St.George to host surprise concert for Condobolin

Tuesday, 19 May 2015

St.George Bank’s very own Dragon Wagon will join the 2015 Variety AHA NSW Bash this week, delivering surprises for regional NSW, including a surprise concert to be held in the centre of Condobolin.

The 2015 Variety AHA NSW Bash is a key regional fundraising event for Variety - the Children’s Charity. It is not a race or rally but rather a drive through rural NSW where everyone is driving the miles for the smiles.

For the first time the St.George Bank team will hit the roads of regional NSW in the ‘Dragon Wagon’, in a 1964 EH Holden Wagon, which will easily be identified with Happy Dragon’s tail appearing from the boot of the car.

The ‘Dragon Wagon’ will take part in the entire seven-day round trip, undertaking daily stop-offs where St.George Bank will donate iPads to ten regional primary schools.

Also part of the initiative – and a secret from Variety Bash entrants and the entire town of Condobolin  – St.George will host an event at the Royal Hotel, where they have secured local boy Shannon Noll as the headline act.

Paul Murray, Regional General Manager for St.George Retail Banking commented:  “No one except myself and a few others know about the appearance, it’s a complete surprise to the entire Variety Bash team and the entire town.”

“We are extremely thankful to Shannon for agreeing to take park in this event, which is not just about the outrageous vehicles, but more importantly about raising money to fund much needed equipment and resources for kids across NSW with unmet needs – many of whom will be from the Newcastle and Hunter region.”

“St.George is a brand very focused on our local community, earlier in the month AHA NSW and St.George held a fundraiser for Variety which raised over $40,000 and we’ll also be taking our ‘Dragon Wagon’ on regional school visits this week to donate school resources.”

Shannon Noll’s appearance in Condobolin will be kept under lock and key until he takes to the stage at 8.30pm at The Royal Hotel, Condobolin on Wednesday 20 May. Photo & interview opportunities will be available with Shannon directly after the concert.
