If the option to set up fingerprint login does not appear after selecting ‘Save card/access number’ then it means that fingerprint login is not available on the device. See the list of compatible devices.
Multiple fingerprints can be registered on the device. Once fingerprint login is activated, any fingerprint stored on the device can be used to login to Mobile Banking. Just like it’s your responsibility to keep your Internet Banking Password secure, your fingerprint login should be treated with the same level of security. This is the reason why you must not register for fingerprint login if the fingerprints of other people are stored on the device.
If the app is not able to read your fingerprint correctly you have the alternate option to login using your security number, password or your full login credentials (must first clear fingerprint access).
Fingerprint login has the same high level security as all authentication methods for Internet and Mobile Banking. As a St.George customer using fingerprint login you will be backed by St.George Secure. This means that in the unlikely event that an unauthorised transaction does occur and it is clear you have not contributed to the losses (subject to the account's terms and conditions of use), St.George will refund the full amount.
If your phone is lost or stolen, you should immediately change your Internet and Mobile Banking security number by logging in to Internet Banking via stgeorge.com.au. The next time a user attempts to login to Mobile Banking on the lost or stolen device, they will need to login using the new security number and will not be able to login with fingerprint login. If you are unable to login to Internet Banking, please call us immediately on 1300 555 203.
Most devices allow you to add or remove your fingerprint by going into the device Settings. If you’re not sure how to do this we suggest you search online for the instructions provided by your device manufacturer.
