General Manager - St.George Retail Banking

Today, General Manager Ross Miller leads a team of 1,700 people who deliver friendly, down to earth service to more than 1.9 million customers across a network of over 170 branches and a local customer contact centre.
Together with his executive team, Ross oversees a special banking culture that’s true to the bank’s heritage as a building society with roots in Southern Sydney and strong links to the community. St.George stands for family, community, inclusion and diversity and the bank is proud to celebrate Australia’s most loved family moments and support organisations and institutions that are important to Australian families – from the bank’s 40 year partnership with the St George Illawarra Dragons and newer ones with the GWS Giants and St.George Queensland Reds, to the iconic St.George OpenAir Cinema and the St.George Foundation which has been helping little dragons in communities across Australia for more than 25 years. With 20 years’ experience in banking and financial services, Ross was appointed General Manager in 2015.
He previously held executive roles in HR at Westpac, where he was responsible for a workforce of 25,000 people across the bank’s Australian and New Zealand operations. His background includes finance, retail, distribution and operations in Australia and overseas. Ross is passionate about wellbeing and creating cultures where people can bring their full selves to work and actively supports mental health and inclusion and diversity initiatives. He is particularly involved in helping those suffering the effects of Dementia, and one of his proudest moments came in 2017 when St.George Bank was recognised by Dementia Australia as Australia’s first Dementia Friendly Bank.
Ross is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, an Australian Human Resources Institute fellow, among the Boss-Deloitte LGBTI Top 50 leaders and was named recipient of the Dave Ulrich HR Leader Award in 2012.
Cathy Yuncken was appointed to the role of General Manager for St.George Business Banking in October 2015. Cathy joined Westpac Group in late 2014 as the State General Manager, Westpac Commercial Banking for NSW and ACT.
Cathy has over 25 years’ experience in corporate, investment and commercial banking, which includes diverse financing, capital markets, advisory, and strategic leadership experience.
Prior to joining Westpac, Cathy’s career has spanned across corporate, investment and commercial banking including senior roles at Bank of America; GE Capital; and Barclays Capital, where she led the Corporate Investment Banking Team (Australia and New Zealand) and Commonwealth Bank, where she led the Institutional Bank's global team of relationship bankers.
Cathy holds Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) and Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of NSW. She is a Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and in 2014 completed an Executive Certificate in Strategy and Innovation at MIT Sloan in Boston. She is a committed mentor of high potential young women and maintains an active involvement with several Not-for-Profit organisations, including the Belvoir Street Theatre in Sydney. She was formerly a non-executive director of Fitted for Work.
