Financial Advice

First meeting with a BT Adviser at no cost to you.

We know you have goals for the future. St.George has partnered with BT to help you get there.

By working together, we could help you to:

  • Make the most of your super
  • Prepare for retirement
  • Protect your income and your loved ones
  • Structure your investments in line with your goals
  • Manage your debts and cash-flow effectively
  • Make sure your estate plan is complete and up-to-date
  • Plan business succession

With your plan in place, we’ll stay by your side to help you stay on track. You can choose the level of advice that’s right for you – from advice on either super, insurance or investments to a review of your complete financial situation.

St.George has partnered with BT to help Australians with their finances. BT has been helping Australians with their finances for over 40 years and has a network of over 1,500 financial advisers, making it one of the largest in the country.

We're happy to chat over the phone, via video or in person to discuss how we can help you reach your goals.

Arrange a no cost initial appointment with a BT Adviser. Or call us on 1300 889 637, between 8.30am-6.00pm (AEST) Monday to Friday to find out more about the type of advice that suits you.

Ever wondered what financial advice can do for you? Ask yourself these questions:

Your retirement

  • How much super will I need to retire comfortably?
  • Do I want to ease into retirement by working part-time?

Your money and investments

  • Do you have spare money that could be working harder?

Your family

  • Would my family cope financially if something happened to me?
  • Are my assets protected if I suffered a serious accident or illness?

Your super

  • How can I invest tax-effectively inside and outside of super?
  • How do I achieve greater control and flexibility over my super?
  • Is it possible to invest my super savings in property?

Not all of these questions may be relevant to you, but we'll find out what is. Then we'll help you take the right steps to achieve your goals.

You should generally consider speaking with a BT Adviser when your life or financial situation changes significantly. For example, you may consider speaking with a BT Adviser when you:

  • Want to buy a property or pay off your home loan
  • Have equity in your property that you would like to invest
  • Change jobs or are made redundant
  • Receive an inheritance
  • Are approaching retirement
  • Have just retired
  • Are looking to grow an investment portfolio
  • Are starting up or running a business.

Talk to one of our BT Advisers, so they can help keep your plan on track as your life changes.

Your financial plan should help you build the future you want for yourself and your family. This may include:

General advice

General advice can help you with a range of topics, including investments, insurance and super. But it doesn’t take into account your personal situation, objectives and needs.

Personal advice on specific needs

Personal advice provides you with specific recommendations on insurance, superannuation or investments that are tailored to your situation.

Personal advice that looks at your full picture

Personal advice is for anyone who is seeking guidance on aspects of their personal situation, objectives and needs.

Speak to us over the phone, via video or in person to discuss what type of advice you’d like to receive.

When you meet with a BT Financial Adviser, they will work through a four-step process.

Step 1 - Initial meeting

Before we can help, we need to understand you, your money and your goals
for the future. Likewise, you want to know who we are, what we stand for,
and what we can offer.

We will meet with you to get an understanding of your circumstances and goals, including:

  • What's important to you and your loved ones
  • Your current situation and your most urgent needs
  • What you would like to achieve in the future
  • Your investment experience and attitude towards risk
  • Anyone else who needs to be considered when creating your plan, e.g. family members, business partners etc.

Step 2 - Bringing your plan to life

We'll explore your options, and develop a practical and appropriate strategy for achieving your short and long term goals. We'll then walk you through your plan, and answer any questions you may have.

Step 3 - Putting your plan into action

Once you're happy with our advice, we'll get the ball rolling by implementing our recommendations.

Step 4 - Keeping you on track

We can help you stay focused on your goals and keep your plan on track as your life changes.

What do I bring to the meeting?

When you meet with a BT Financial Adviser, you'll get the most out of the meeting if you bring details of your:

  • Super and investment statements
  • Tax returns
  • Your income and expenses
  • Insurance policies
  • Bank statements
  • Loan and credit card statements

Working with a financial adviser doesn't mean you hand over control. You'll always have the freedom to make decisions that you feel most comfortable with. But you’ll also have someone who can keep you on track as your life changes.
